Beating private school vouchers

Online to offline organizing has helped hundreds of groups build digital capacity and win. Here's what that looks like on real campaigns.

In 2023, Texas AFT used an online to offline funnel to find and activate educators in rural and remote districts with no major union presence, and helped deny Gov. Greg Abbott his private school voucher scheme.

In 2019, Parent Voices Oakland used O2O strategy to build the people power needed to fund childcare and raise childcare worker pay in Alameda County. With two paid organizers and five months, they passed Measure C with 64% of the vote. For every three parents PVO engaged, two came through O2O work.

Working Partnerships USA launched Gig Workers Rising to support Uber and Lyft drivers in California. Using online to offline organizing, leaders moved drivers to act and helped win AB 5, reclassifying app drivers as employees.

With tens of thousands of childcare providers spread across Illinois, SEIU HCII needed new ways to reach them. With our team, they recruited thousands of providers into online communities of support and signed up hundreds of new union members they would otherwise have struggled to reach.
“Working in partnership with the O2O team, we have seen how using online to offline strategies can transform campaigns and allow organizers to have hundreds of conversations a week.”
